"Question – Issues -
CDA School District 271 Levy"
3/6/2011
Response: There are many valid
concerns why people will be voting against it. However, there is only so much
that can be trimmed before it collapses. If you have problems with how
the money is being spent, then change who’s spending it. The ones that
are being effected by the cuts are unable to voice their opinion. I am
making my personal vote in favor, simply because the state is
already cutting so much.

I grew-up in Northern
Idaho and know that we often get left behind in the legislation down
south. The best people to consult on how we can encourage those
businesses to relocate to North Idaho are those that already operate in
North Idaho. The advantage that North Idaho has over South Idaho is
privacy, more abundant local materials for construction and water,
lower property costs, and geographically closer access to exporting
to other states, and an eager workforce. We have close access to
north/south and east/west interstate transportation routs along with
pre-existing railway yards in Spokane that are only a truckload away.
One way we can ultimately protect our Natural Resources
and create jobs is the reuse industry. As stated in my flyers I
would like to see Idaho
as a leader in manufacturing, processing, and export center for more
products including renewable industries, manufactured related products &
energy. Boost for Idaho’s struggling mills would be exporting recycled
wood/pulp/paper fibers. Resource leaders of today will be the suppliers
of tomorrow. There are many other untapped industries out there. Two I
can think of off hand are those benches you see around town made out of
recycled plastic and recycled metals for manufacturing. There is also
Construction Company in Moscow that specializes in materials found on
site. And of course, we must not forget the various potential Idaho
energy industries: geothermal (used by a school down south), wind (on
average Idaho is the 5th windiest state in the Union), Solar
(many solar companies right here in CDA), Hydro-electric, Methane
(capturing it from farms instead of allowing it to just disperse in the
atmosphere, I am sure I am leaving some out.
Small
business will be stretched by Federal mandated health care and there is
not much opportunity for small business to shop around in North Idaho.
We could take some advice form other states that allow more competing
insurance providers to operate (free market and competition brings out
the best prices) and allow small business more collective barging. It
seems to me that we give many other disproportionate breaks to large
corporations and leave out small business. Now, due to our state
financial situation there may not be as much money for small business
loans as I would like. However, what we can do it to give our Idaho
based business and modest (some business may be larger than others but,
there are no “small” businesses) is more credits and incentives
that are afforded to larger businesses. One solution may not fit all so
that is where local discussion/adversary groups that would assist in
legislation come in handy formed from locally owed businesses.
I
hope this
answered some of your questions? A letter of support in the CDA press would be
appreciated.

"Jeremy, you sound
like you have a lot of new ideas for Idaho, ideas which Idaho needs to
be implimented if we are to survive as an economically viable state. I
especially like your approach to better utilize our natural resources.
Idaho is a sleeping powerhouse and there isn't any reason why we can't
become the leading state in a Union during this century. If elected what
will be your approach to encouraging major industries to relocate to
Idaho?"
Response:
Idaho has great
potential in various natural resources. Our natural resources are varied
from our Natural Gas reserves to various wind farms down south (with
other opportunities that would work up here) to forestry products to all
manufacturing as well as recycled aspects. I agree we can become an
economic powerhouse in the nation and world. Major business brings
economic capital to our state. We must also not forget Idaho based and
small business that operate in Idaho. As, our Idaho business grow so
will your client base. One thing I will be doing will be creating
‘think tanks’ and consulting groups from local business and
organizations to help me directly draft legislation to increase various
business aspects in Idaho.

"Jeremy, I met you
at the front door towards the edn of Sheriff Mack's event. I like your
site and what you say and stand for. I will pass your information along
to my Idaho friends. Do you know Alana from the Idaho chapter of the
C4l? She and that group would be a good one to get in your corner."
Response:
I am currently
unfamiliar with this group. I have posted this comment on my website and
contacted you as requested. Could you please E-mail me, her contact
information so I can learn more?

"What is your
stance on pro-life v. pro-choice?"
Response:
No matter what my
personal views or beliefs are; laws ‘for’ or ‘against’ must be forwarded
to a General Election for decision and not be decided by legislators
alone.

"I strongly agree with your
position on getting tough on sex offenders. However, I am troubled by
your comments about moderates. I think of moderates as people who do
not think. They let others decide where the right and the left
parameters are, and then they just plop themselves in the middle. So if
the left moves left (as it has in this country), the moderates simply
move left in order to stay in the middle. Moderates do not think, but
they usually feel good about themselves because they are so "fair
minded". If this is what you mean by moderate, and you seriously want
to appeal to this crowd, then I cannot support your candidacy. If you
mean something else, perhaps you are a viable alternative."
Response:
Moderates
have to think for themselves so they are not swayed but the right or
left extreme. They have to be steadfast so they are not influenced and
able to
avoid
influences and extremes in behavior or expression.
Whether they agree
with one side or not, they have to be fair mined so they can see both
sides of the issue so that they can moderate a mutually agreed decision.
Merriam-Webster’s Online dictionary defines: “moderates”

intransitive verb
